Boko Haram: Troops kill several terrorists, lose one soldier in Madagali

Military battle Boko Haram in Michika, Adamawa

Several members of the terrorists group, Boko Haram, were killed in a battle with the troops of the Nigerian Army on Saturday.

The terrorists had attempted to infiltrate Madagali area of Adamawa State when the troops of 143 Battalion, 28 Task Force Brigade, Sector 1 Operation Lafiya Dole attacked them.

According to the Deputy Director, Public Relations, of 7 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Ado Isa, the terrorists who stormed the location in gun trucks met their waterloo through stiff resistance coupled with massive fire power from the troops.

The troops, he said, in their efforts successfully held their ground, disorganised the terrorists who later lost momentum and retreated in disarray.

He explained that during the encounter, the resilient troops neutralised many insurgents, captured one alive while several others fled with gunshot wounds.

The gallant troops recovered five AK47 rifles, four magazines, one hand held grenade, 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 45 rounds of anti aircraft gun ammunition.

Also recovered were two mobile phones and one Sony camcorder camera from the BHTs.

He said however that sadly, one soldier and a civilian paid the supreme sacrifice while five others sustained injuries and were receiving medical attention.

Isa said, the Acting General Officer Commanding(GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1, Operation Lafiya Dole, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu, while commending their doggedness and gallantry, also commiserated with the families of the fallen heroes with firm assurance that their sacrifices would not be in vain.
