The body of kidnapped 78-year-old woman, Mrs Ayoko Owoko, has been found in the creeks of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Gunmen kidnapped her on April 18 at her country home at the riverside town of Amassoma in Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa State.
The news of her death was announced by Bayelsa Police Command.
According to the spokesman of the police command, Mr Asinim Butswat, her body was found during the rescue operation being carried out by the police.
He said the body was found on Wednesday at the bank of the River Nun which flows through the community.
She was reported to be sick when she was kidnapped.
It is suspected that she was dumped where she was found by the kidnappers after she had died.
The police spokesman has however given the assurance that the police would apprehend the criminals behind the incident and bring them to book.
