Bakare’s death is a collective loss to the media, Nigeria –Buhari

The death of the Saturday Editor of New Telegraph, Waheed Bakare, is a collective loss to the media and Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has declared.

The president made the declaration in his condolence message to the media industry, particularly Nigeria Union of Journalists and Nigeria Guild of Editors.

The president’s condolence message was released by Mr Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in Abuja on Monday.

President Buhari also sent condolences to the family of the deceased and management of New Telegraph Newspapers.

He prayed that God would receive the soul of the departed, and comfort all that mourned him.

Meanwhile, the remains of Bakare have been interred at his Ota, Ogun State, residence this afternoon.

The occasion was attended by the Managing Director of New Telegraph, Mr. Ayodele Aminu, and other sympathisers.

Bakare who died on Sunday is survived by a wife and four children.
