Ayokunle re-elected as CAN president, Solomon-Ahima, vice

Dr. Samson Supo Ayokunle has been re-elected as the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

Ayokunle is the president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC.

He defeated Caleb Solomon-Ahima, president of Fellowship of Christian Churches in Nigeria, TEKAN, recording 59 votes against 44 votes.

Solomon-Ahima therefore became the Vice President of CAN, going by its constitution.

The winner of the contest was announced on Tuesday by Matthew Kukah, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.

Born on January 25, 1957, Ayokunle is from Isheke in Oyo State with a first degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan in 1983.

He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a Master of Education in Guidance and Counselling from the same university.

He also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theology with emphasis on Liturgical Studies.
