The governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Sunday, extolled the virtues of Nigeria’s ambassador to Mexico, Rafiu Adejare Bello, whom he described as a highly revered and proud son of Osun.

He said the appointment of Adejare Bello was not a casual one, but a responsibility founded on an antecedent of humility and diligence.

Oyetola, who spoke through his Chief of Staff, Dr Charles Akinola, on Sunday at the civic reception in honour of Ambassador Adejare Bello, in Ede, described Bello as: “Ede’s gift to Osun, Osun’s gift to Nigeria and Nigeria’s gift to the world.”

Oyetola said: “An ambassador that is going to the core of North America is not casually chosen. He has been chosen on account of his humility and resourcefulness. So, we are proud in Osun that the person of Adejare Bello is the one we are presenting to the world.

“We urge you to be a good ambassador of this State and uphold the ethos of Omoluabi. We urge you to also project Osun’s rich culture which is unparalleled,” Oyetola stated.

Speaking also at the event, the Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, lauded Bello as an Omoluabi to the core, urging him to remain steadfast and committed to excellence in his new assignment.

He also called on citizens of the state to drop their differences and sentiments, and join forces together to build a stronger and greater Osun.

Former Governor of the State of Osun, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, in his remark, lauded Bello as a man who never played politics with the truth.

Oyinlola, who spoke through the former Secretary to the State Government, Kazeem Adio, expressed confidence that Bello would perform optimally in his new assignment as a tested and proven son of Osun.

Bello, in his response, appreciated the support of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the All Progressive Congress, promising that he would continue to uphold the Omoluabi ethos.
