President Muhammadu Buhari has applauded Chief Mbazuluike Amaechi, describing him as being steadfast in proffering the way forward for Nigeria and building bridges that will help strengthen the foundations of the country.
Amaechi who was the nation’s Minister of Aviation in the First Republic is 90 years old.
Speaking on the occasion of his birthday, Buhari said he joined friends and well-wishers to celebrate the elder statesman, foremost nationalist and respected community leader.
The president urged all who celebrated the nonagenarian to reflect on the ideals he shared so much with national founding figures like the great Zik of Africa, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, who used their leadership positions to move the country forward and serve the country with dedication, dignity and discipline.
He said he believed Nigeria needed nationalists like Chief Amaechi to constantly remind the nation of the nation’s history and inspire all Nigerians to embrace the core values of unity and faith, peace and progress.
President Buhari prayed to God to preserve Amaechi with good health, happiness and peace and wished all those celebrating him a joyous day.
