AfriScribe, an Africa-focused academic publishing and research support platform, has introduced AfriScribe Supervise, a digital tool designed to improve university research supervision through accountability, reduced paperwork and seamless collaboration between students and supervisors.
The platform uses analytics and activity tracking to help institutions monitor supervision activities, identify students who need additional guidance and assess supervisors’ responsiveness.
It also enables students to report concerns directly to their Heads of Department, HODs, and enables institutions to reassign supervisors without requiring students to restart their research projects.
Speaking on the platform, AfriScribe founder, Dr Olasunkanmi Arowolo, said it was developed to promote fairness and accountability in the supervision process, ensuring that both students and supervisors could be held responsible for their duties.
AfriScribe Supervise also reduces the need for repeated printing by enabling digital feedback, document editing and collaboration.
According to Arowolo, a recent cohort of approximately 14 to 15 students under his supervision completed their research work without printing drafts until the final binding and submission stage.
Designed for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral research, the platform allows institutions to customise supervision stages to suit different disciplines and research requirements.
Arowolo also disclosed that nine institutions were testing the platform, including Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom and Lagos State University, LASU, alongside other public and private tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The organisation is also planning virtual and on-site training for subscribing institutions and developing a repository pipeline to make successful research projects accessible to users globally.
AfriScribe provides academic publishing and research support services, including digital tools and editorial services for researchers, universities and scholarly journals.
Its AfriScribe Supervise product focuses on improving the management of academic project supervision.
