The Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, has commended the governor of Lagos State and the Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for successfully bringing over 200 potential investors to Nigeria for the just-concluded Invest Lagos 3.0 Summit.
In a statement issued and signed by its National Organising Secretary, Otunba Kole Omololu, Afenifere said the attendance of global leaders at the Invest Lagos 3.0, organised by the Lagos State government in partnership with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, on Monday and Tuesday, June 8 to 9, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, was a bold statement shown in action by Governor Sanwo-Olu that Nigeria was safe.
“Afenifere would like to commend Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for changing the negative narratives that enemies of Nigeria have sought to impose on this nation with a manufactured political insecurity crisis by bringing over 200 potential investors to Nigeria for the Invest Lagos 3.0 Summit, in partnership with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, which took place on June 8–9, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island.
“These are the types of initiatives we expect from our governors, who have received an influx of cash under the Tinubu administration’s policies.
“And by gathering a very esteemed and august lineup of foreign speakers, including Lord Marland, Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, and Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, Mr Sanwo-Olu demonstrates, by action, that Nigeria is safe!,” the socio-cultural group stated.
Afenifere revealed that “No other Governor in Nigeria today has achieved as much as Governor Sanwo-Olu in projecting a positive image of Nigeria in a way that projects our nation as an enviable destination for investment.
“From Detty December, which last year saw an influx of 1.2 million tourists into Nigeria, to the E1 World Championship Formula 1-style boat racing event, which took place in Lagos last year, to astonishingly boosting the GDP of Lagos to $259 billion based on Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), making it the second-largest city economy in Africa, second only to Cairo, Egypt.
“Afenifere is indeed proud of these achievements of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and affirms that this is the type of visionary leadership Nigeria needs to turn the corner.”
