The Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria, ACSPN, South West Zone, is set to host a special webinar on re-appraising the role of the media and communications in elections, conflict and security.
The announcement was made on Sunday in a statement by the zone’s vice president, Mr Lanre Arogundade.
The webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 11.00 am. to 1.00 p.m.
Lead Speaker at the event is the Vice Chancellor of Baze University, Abuja, Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi.
The lead discussants will include Prof. Jide Jimoh of Lagos State University and Dr. Adeola Oyeleke of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Arogundade said the target audience of the webinar included ACSPN members, students and interested scholars from related professions.
He added that new state chapters in the zone would also be inaugurated during the webinar at which the president of ACSPN, Prof. Rotimi Olatunji will deliver a goodwill address.
In addition to empowerment programmes for members, ACSPN regularly conducts research and promotes collaborative initiatives to strengthen frameworks that enhance the role of communication in the advancement of democracy and development.
