Following the recent sack of the state executive council of Accord in Oyo State, the national chairman of the party, Malam Muhammad Nalado, has inaugurated a five-man caretaker committee for the party in the state.

Nalado who was represented by the party’s national legal adviser, Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem, condemned the action of the sacked executive members, stating that the party was known for its integrity and oneness of mission.

It would be recalled that the national leadership of the party took the decision to dissolve the executive council following its open endorsement of Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as its preferred governorship candidate against the party’s candidate in the March 18 election.

The inaugurated committee include Alhaji Isiaka Salami (Chairman); Mr. Bashiru Ayobami (Secretary); Hon Fatai Salawu (member); Mrs Bimpe Martins (member) and Hon. Ayodele Oyajide (member).

Ngbudem who was flanked by the National Vice Chairman, Southwest, Alhaji Dokun Babarinde, while speaking during the inauguration, which held at the party’s new state secretariat, in Oke Ado, Ibadan, and attended by party leaders from across the state, said the committee was to oversee the affairs of the party pending when the state congress elections would be held.

He said it was shameful for a group of people to constitute themselves against the decision of the party, promising to sanction those involved according to the party’s provisions.

He charged members to go across the state and inform the electorate that the governorship candidate of the party, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, or any of the candidates for the House of Assembly election had not stepped down for candidates of other parties, adding that the party was strongly behind Adelabu for the governorship seat as well as all the House of Assembly candidates.

Adelabu in his remarks, said the betrayal was not unexpected but never acceptable, expressing shock that some individuals could turn to political jobbers for selfish gains and lacked faith in vision and mission of the party in the state.

He lauded the national leadership of the party for the promptness and quick intervention, stating that it took less than two hours that the sacked executive made their fraudulent endorsement of Makinde that the national leadership issued a statement denouncing the move and sack of the executive council.

Salami, while speaking on behalf of the caretaker committee, pledged loyalty of the executive to the national leadership and members of the party and all the candidates in the state.

He stated that the party must take advantage of the one week extension for the election to work and reclaim the state and prove that it was the only alternative for the masses of the state.
