The suit seeking the nullification of the candidature of President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 presidential election on account of academic qualification has been struck out.

The suit was declared statute-barred by the Appeal Court in Abuja on Friday.

The suit filed by Kalu Kalu, Labaran Ismail and Hassy Kyari el-Kuris had been struck out earlier by a Federal High Court.

Upholding the verdict of the lower court, the Appeal Court said the case was not brought within the 14 days period as stipulated by the law under section 285(9) of the Nigerian Constitution.
