AFCON: Lawan leads presidential delegation to cheer S’Eagles

The President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, is leading the presidential delegation to cheer the Super Eagles at the ongoing African Cup of Nations, AFCON, going on in Egypt.

The Super Eagles will trade tackles with Algeria at the semi-final stage of the competition today.

Already, the Senate President has left Nigeria for Egypt.

In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Mohammed Isa, Lawan said the delegation was necessary to cheer the Nigerian team to victory.

He said the delegation would serve as a morale booster to the players.

His words: “I am confident that our boys will today reenact their winning streak in their determination to win the trophy, and they need all of our support including our physical presence.”

In the delegation too are the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele; President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC; Habu Gumel and a representative of the Presidency, Capt. Hosa Okunbo, are also in the delegation.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Olusade Adesola; Muhammad Gambo, the ministry’s Director of Facilities and former Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung will also cheer the Super Eagles in Egypt.
