Chemical explosion: How fire service rescued woman in Lagos

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued a female adult from a chemical induced fire that happened in Agege area of the state.

The Director of the fire agency, Mrs Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday.

She said that the incident occurred at 6:38 p. m. on Friday at 291, Old Abeokuta Motor Road.

Adeseye said that Agege fire and rescue crew of the agency put out the fire.

“The fire service brought the situation under control after dousing the fire from the explosion of sets of varying kegs sizes containing unknown chemical stored in an open fenced-gated land.”

According to her, investigation into the ownership and type of chemical was ongoing,

“It was discovered that heat radiation is attributed to the explosion of the chemical which were kept unprotected from sunlight,” she said.

According to her, the rescued lady was however responding to treatment from sustained first degree burns.
