Two men alleged to have robbed a Point of Sale, POS, attendant at Igando area of Lagos State have been killed by a mob which carried out jungle justice.

The Public Relations Officer of the police command in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on Sunday in a statement on his Twitter handle.

According to Hundeyin, on Saturday, a mob descended on the suspects, set them ablaze and burnt them beyond recognition.

He said although the police arrived the scene, the people who perpetrated the jungle justice fled.

He however said that investigation had commenced into the act which he described as archaic and criminal practice.

Meanwhile, the police spokesman has praised crime reporters in the state for reporting arrest of criminals.

This is as he urged judiciary correspondents to update Nigerians on the progress of prosecution of criminal cases.

According to him, that would put a stop to “the fallacy that, ‘Police has collected money and released them.’”
