BREAKING: Osun guber: INEC declares PDP’s Adeleke winner

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in Osun State governorship election, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the winner.

He defeated the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adegboyega Oyetola, among others in the election which was held on Saturday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer for the state, Professor Toyin Ogundipe, made the announcement Sunday morning.

His words: “I declare that Adeleke Jackson Nurudeen Ademola of the PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and he is returned elected.”

Adeleke recorded 403, 371 votes while Oyetola won 375,027.

While Adeleke won in 17 of the 30 local government areas of the state, Oyetola achieved victory in 13 local government areas.

The local government areas where Adeleke achieved victory are Ede North, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun, and Ejigbo.

The 13 local government areas where Oyetola won are: Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Ife South, Ife Central, and Ife East.

Other candidates in the election are Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord Party; Lasun Yusuff of Labour Party; Oyegoke Omigbodun of Social Democratic Party; Segun Awojide of African Action Congress; Kehinde Atanda of Action Democratic Party; Awoyemi Lukuman of Allied Peoples Movement; Adebayo Elisha of All Peoples Party; and Adeleke Adedapo of Boot Party.

The candidates also include Rasaq Saliu of New Nigeria Peoples Party; Abede Samuel of National Rescue Movement; Ayowole Adedeji of Peoples Redemption Party; Ademola Adeseye of Young Peoples Party; and Adesuyi Olufemi of Zenith Labour Party.
