Hip-hop musician, Hebeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has reported himself at the headquarters of Ogun State Police Command, Elewearan, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

His action followed the order by the police that he should report himself at the nearest police station or risk arrest over the role he played in the attack on a young man identified as DJ Chicken.

The attack was made available in a video that went viral.

The police, on June 20, issued the order for him to report at any station close to him or risk arrest.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the spokesman of the police command in Ogun State, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Portable had reported at the police headquarters at Eleweran, on Wednesday.

According to him, “the artiste reported at Eleweran at about 5 p.m. with his father and manager.”

The spokesman said upon arrival, Portable “was immediately ordered to be taken to the Public Complaint Bureau office by the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, where he was interrogated about his role in the assault meted to the boy in the video.”

The police spokesman said he had however been released on bail.

Oyeyemi gave an indication that he might soon be prosecuted when the workers’ strike in Ogun State is called off.

According to him, the strike had affected court activities.

His words: “However, since the offence committed is a bailable one, and coupled with the strike action embarked upon by the civil servants in the state which also affected our courts, the suspect was released to a reliable surety who promised to produce him anytime he is needed.”

The police added that the “assaulted victim has also been invited to come and state his own side of the story to enable the command complete her investigation on time.”
