The Third Force Movement under the umbrella of the National Consultative Front, NCFront, has elected its zonal officers to coordinate its activities in the South West Zone ahead of the formal launch of the alternative mega party in the first week of March.

According to a communiqué issued by the movement, the new leadership of the Southwest emerged during the general assembly of Third Force leaders held in Ibadan on February 24, 2022.

In his address at the occasion, the National Secretary of NCFront and Convener of the Third Force Movement of Nigeria, Mr. Olawale Okunniyi, described the NCFront as a movement of leaders of conscience birthed to rescue the country from pervasive misrule and unprecedented impunity in politics, which he said had cast gloom on the future of Nigeria.

Okunniyi explained that the movement was yet to adopt a political party because of the need to absorb and accommodate more interested political movements, stakeholders and allies.

He, however, commended the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Movement for giving impetus to the group’s initiative to rescue Nigeria.

He assured that leaders of the Third Force Movement shall be part of political conference organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress slated to hold in Abuja in March.

He also reassured that the country would witness the birth of the movement soon as plans had been perfected to launch a mega party by the first week of March.

According to him, the political parties being considered for adoption and platform for fusion of all other partners and stakeholders towards the formation of the mega party were People’s Redemption Party, PRP; African Democratic Congress, ADC; National Rescue Movement, NRM, and Zenith Labour Party, ZLP.

He implored leaders and delegates from the six states of Southwest in attendance to try to mobilise more youths and women into the fold saying that the movement was about the youths and the vulnerable.

He said those to run the affairs of the structure of the movement in the South West are Mr Lanre Adenuga from Lagos State (Chairman), Engr Jagun Abiodun from Ogun State (Vice Chairman), Lanre Fadahunsi from Osun State (Secretary) and Mr Olusola Ayodele from Oyo State (Treasurer).

Others elected by the zonal congress include Barr Thompson Akinyemi, Esq from Ondo (Publicity Secretary), Wasiu Olanrewaju from Osun State (Youth Leader), Prince Adesina Bashorun from Ogun State (Ex Officio Zonal Leader) and Barr Ademola Okeya, Esq from Ekiti (Legal Adviser).
