Nigerian borders have been ordered to be re-opened.
The order to that effect was given by the Federal Government following the postponement of the general election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
It would be recalled that the order to close the borders was given on Thursday ahead of the general election.
It took effect from Friday night.
But in a statement by the Comptroller-General, Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Mr. Muhammad Babandede, in Abuja on Saturday, the Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd), had ordered the re-opening.
He said, however, that Immigration officers would continue to carry out their normal border control and patrol duties to ensure that all persons crossing Nigeria’s land, air and sea borders travelled with valid and genuine documents.
