The Department of State Services, DSS, has been directed to pay the sum of N20 billion to Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly referred to as Sunday Igboho.

An Oyo State High Court gave the order on Friday describing the July 1 invasion of the residence of Igboho by DSS operatives as unlawful.

The order followed the suit filed by Igboho against the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, DSS and the director of the DSS in Oyo State.

Igboho requested that he should be paid N5.5 billion following the raid of his Ibadan residence by the operatives.

It would be recalled that two persons were reportedly killed and 12 other persons arrested during the raid.

He listed items said to have been removed from his house during the invasion as including N2 million cash, travel documents, gold jewellery, wristwatches, two mobile phones, and other items.

In the judgement delivered by Justice Ladiran Akintola, the court described the invasion as a mark of arbitrary aggression and prejudices against Igboho.
