A 35 years old woman, Dorothy Sunday, has been arrested by detectives at the Central Police Station, Nnewi, Anambra State, for allegedly stealing a five-day-old twin baby boy.
She was reported to have sneaked into the maternity section of the Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, where she stole the baby.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, she committed the crime when the baby’s mother, Mrs Happiness Mmadu, aged 22, went to wash her clothes.
However, when some nurses noticed her suspicious moves, they raised alarm and she was arrested at about 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The baby was said to be in good condition and the police said she would charged to court upon completion of investigation.
