Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, is feared dead in a Nigerian Air Force, NAF, aircraft crash on Friday, unconfirmed reports said.
The aircraft which was conveying some top military officers crashed near Kaduna, NAF Twitter handle @NigAirForce, confirmed.
A tweet by the Nigerian Air Force confirmed that the air crash, involving a @NigAirForce aircraft, occurred near the Kaduna International Airport.
The Air Force spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, in the tweet, said that the immediate cause of the crash was still being ascertained.
However, effort to get confirmation from Nigerian Army has been unsuccessful as the spokesperson, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima, did not respond to calls.
