Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday defeated the Squirrels of Benin Republic 1 – 0 in the Match Day 5 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The match was played at the Charles de Gaulle Stadium in Porto-Novo.

Nigeria defeated Benin Republic’s Squirrels with a late strike from Paul Onuachu.

The victory ended the Squirrel’s eight years unbeaten home record.

Nigeria qualified for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, scheduled for Cameroon ahead of the Match Day 5 fixture, after Sierra Leone’s goalless draw with Lesotho on Saturday.

The Super Eagles who played later in the day in Group L qualified by virtue of the result of the earlier fixture.

Lesotho hosted Sierra Leone in the earlier fixture at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru, drawing 0-0.
