Abule Egba fire: Police arrest four, declare ring leader wanted

No fewer than four suspected vandals who broke the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, pipeline which led to fire outbreak at Abule-Egba part of Lagos State recently have been arrested by the police.

The suspected ring leaders of the vandals, one Prince Adedipo Dauda Ewenla, said to be at large has also been declared wanted to report to the police.

Spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, Chike Oti, made this known on Thursday.

The fire outbreak left no fewer than 100 houses and over 50 cars burnt.

Several people were also injured.

Oti said that the suspects arrested had explained how vandalism led to the fire outbreak and that Ewenla was their leader.

His words: “They also mentioned one Prince Adedipo Dauda Ewenla as their ring leader.

“Based on this, the Command extended invitation to him at his last known address but found out that he had fled to Ogun State in order to evade arrest.

“He is hereby advised to come out of hiding and report himself to Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja or to the nearest police station in the state to defend the allegation against him.”
