Dr Victoria Obakoya, CEO Ijamido Children’s Home, for burial Friday

The remains of the Chief Executive Officer of Ijamido Children’s Home, Ota, Ogun State, Dr. (Mrs) Victoria Abosede Obakoya, will be buried on Friday, December 11, 2020.

Her burial will be at the home.

The event will be preceded by a Service at Maridon Close along Tollgate Road, Ota ogun State on the same day.

A number of other activities have been lined up to bid her farewell.

On Wednesday, an Artistes Night will hold at the home at 3.00 p.m. while a Lying In State will be held on Thursday at 3.00 p.m.

A Service of Songs will hold at the home on Thursday at 5.00 p.m.

Candle Light Procession will be held at the home on Thursday too.

Mrs. Obakoya died last month after a brief illness.

She was the first product of Ijamido Chidren’s Home.

The home was set up by Mrs. Irene Willoughby (Nee Liverpool) in 1958.

Born in Georgetown – Guyana in the United States of America in 1904, Willoughby was brought to Nigeria by her parents – Pa. J.B. Liverpool and Mrs. Elizabeth Liverpool when she was eight years old.

She went to school in Nigeria and became a trained Nurse/Midwife.

After working in different places within Nigeria, Mrs. Willoughby was brought to Ota where she opened a maternity centre in 1956.

She started running the children’s home in 1958 and got government’s approval in 1979.
