The Olu of Ibogun in Ifo local government of Ogun State, Oba Fakayode Faluade, has stressed the importance of peaceful co-existence to the socio-political and economic development of any society.

He said without peaceful co-existence a community could not develop.

The monarch made this remark on Saturday while speaking on a misunderstanding between the indigene of  his community and Fulani settlers.

He appealed to the indigenes and settlers to eschew all forms of violence and always live in peace and harmony even in the face of provocation.

He noted that the benefits inherent in peaceful co-existence were enormous especially in the quest for  stability, tolerance, a crime-free society and an accelerated socio-economic development of the town.

The monarch explained that no society could make progress in an atmosphere devoid of peace.

He stressed that the prevailing peace in the community prior to the misunderstanding between the people and the settlers had impacted positively on the quality of life and economy of the people and the community in general.

Oba Faluade expressed his appreciation to the police, leaders of various groups, for ensuring that the misunderstanding between the indigenes and settlers did not degenerate into chaos.
