Lagos State government has extended the hours of operations of both food and non-food markets in the state.

They are now to operate between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr. Wale Ahmed, made this known on Sunday in a statement.

He stated, however, that the number of days of operations of the markets remained unchanged – one day on, one day off.

According to him, food markets would still open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, while non-food ones open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The commissioner explained that the decision which was approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was to enhance trade and commerce and reduce the hardship caused by COVID-19.

He appealed to all traders to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols for their safety and the citizenry at large.
