No fewer than 14 persons have been killed by gunmen at Ukuru Village in Mariga local government area of Niger State.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, made this known on Thursday.
In a statement he issued, the police officer said the gunmen invaded Ukuru on Wednesday at about 3.30 p.m. and shot at the people at sight.
14 persons were said to be confirmed dead while others were injured.
The injured were said to have been taken to the hospital.
The gunmen rustled some cattle.
The police spokesman said police operatives and members of the vigilance group were already on the trail of the gunmen.
