Five armed robbery suspects terrorising Osiele and its environs in Abeokuta, Ogun State, have been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-robbery Squad, SARS.

They were arrested in the early hour of July 24, 2020, according to Ogun State Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement he issued on Monday.

The suspects, 39 years old Dayo Ajala (a.k.a Otege); 35 years old Ismaila Badmus (a.k.a Obasanjo); 24 years old Joseph Sunday (a.k.a J.J.); 27 years old Chuckwuemeka Paul (a.k.a Ejima) and 46 years old Okikiola Adeshina, their herbalist, were all arrested following an information received by the SARS operatives about their hideout at Odeda area of Abeokuta.

Oyeyemi said upon the information, the O/C SARS, Csp Tijani Muhammed, led his men to the area and cordoned off the hideout.

At the end of the operation, four members of the gang terrorising Osiele were apprehended.

He said their arrest led to the capture of their herbalist, who they claimed was their godfather that used to fortify them spiritually whenever they were going out for operation and also used to initiate new member into their fold.

Recovered from them are one double barrel locally made short gun, one battle axe, two knives and assorted dangerous charms.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward A. Ajogun, has ordered full scale investigation into the activities of the suspects with the view to prosecute them diligently.
