Professor Akin Ogunpola was an astute politician who served Ogun State with the fullest of his strength and energy.
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ogun Sate, Chief Yemi Sanusi made this remark in his message of condolence on the death of Ogunpola.
Ogunpola died on Monday.
In the message issued on Wednesday, Sanusi who described the politician as a community leader who lived a worthy life said: “He served our state with the fullest of his strength and energy. He was an outstanding Commissioner for Education whose tenure established many primary and secondary schools and the prestigious Olabisi Onabanjo University.
“To the glory of God and Chief Ogunpola’s honour, all these legacies are monumental, functional and will remain evergreen in the annals of education in Ogun State”.
Sanusi added that the late chief “was an astute politician, a committed community leader and a resourceful educationists that left his names on the sand of time,” adding that “our solace is in the fact that Chief Ogunpola grew old and had enormous achievements before he transited to the bosom of the Lord.”
While commiserating with the family of the late Professor Akin Ogunpola, Sanusi prayed: “May the Lord give the family of Late Chief Akin Ogunpola, the political class and the entire state the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
