A former governor of the old Ondo State, Chief Bamidele Olumilua, is dead.

He was 80 years old.

Olumilua’s death was confirmed by his son, Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua.

His words: “I can confirm to you that it is true that Baba died today (Thursday) around 3 a.m.

“We thank God that he lived a good and worthy life and we are proud of his personality and achievements while alive.”

Olumilua was governor between January 1992 and November 1993 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

His tenure was cut short by the coming of a military government led by General Sani Abacha which sacked the civilian government at the time.

Olumilua, from Ikere Ekiti, was appointed as the Chairman of Council of the Ekiti State University, EKSU, by Governor Kayode Fayemi, during his first tenure in office.
