A 50 years old man, Ede Tyndale, of Kajola Street, Ikotun, Lagos State, has been remanded in police custody for defiling his daughter for eight years.
19 years old, the man’s daughter revealed that the father had been defiling her since she was 11 years old.
Upon arrest, the suspect was on May 11, 2020 charged to Chief Magistrate Court ll, Ogba, on five count charges of incest, rape, sexual harassment, defilement and sexual assault.
The case was brought to the notice of the police at Ikotun Police Station by the man’s wife and mother of the daughter, on May 9, 2020.
The police, in a statement by DSP Bala Elkana, spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, said trouble started when the woman noticed some strange behaviours from her daughter and decided to find out why the sudden disrespect towards her father.
The statement by the police reads in part:
“The survivor opened up to her mother that her father started having sexual intercourse with her when she was 11 years old.
“That he often threatened violence whenever she resisted him. That the father instilled so much fear in her that she found it difficult to report to anybody.
“The suspect was arrested by detectives from the Family Support Unit.
“He confessed to the commission of the crime after a thorough investigation into the case.”
