Former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Tony Anenih, is dead.
Aged 85, he died in Abuja on Sunday at a private hospital.
His family is expected to issue a statement on his death.
A respected politician noted for his dexterity, Anenih was popularly called “Mr. Fix It.”
The top politician who hails from Edo State resigned from active politics about two years ago.
The political history of Nigeria would be incomplete without due reference to the roles he played.
Anenih was the State Chairman of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) between 1981 and 1983.
He was instrumental to the emergence of Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia as the civilian Governor of Bendel State.
Between 1992 and 1993, Anenih reigned as the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
He was also a member of the Constitutional Conference in 1994.
Anenih was also Minister of Works and Housing under the regime of President Olusegun Obasanjo.
