No fewer than 75 persons have been arrested and 75 vehicles impounded for driving against traffic in the last few weeks.

Some of the affected vehicles were also guilty of being parked indiscriminately in different parts of the state.

Such indiscriminate parking, the police said, resulted in major obstructions on the highways and streets.

They also cause gridlock.

The police said in as much as clubs and businesses had the rights to run their businesses, road users equally had the right to free flow of traffic.

It warned that business owners and operators of clubs and worship centres had a duty to ensure that their customers, staff, visitors and followers did not create obstructions on the roads where they operated for the benefits of other road users.

“The vehicles impounded include private cars, commercial vehicles, trucks, bullion vans and escorts vehicles who drove against traffic.

“The message is clear, no one is above the law. The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc maintained that the operation will be sustained and called on road users to obey traffic laws at all times,” the statement by Lagos Police Command spokesman, Bala Elkana, reads in part.
