President Muhammadu Buhari has refuted widespread allegations that there were plans for him to run for a third term in office in 2023.
He made the denial on Friday while speaking at the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja.
He said that he had to be frank in his opinion during the session because he would no longer need anybody’s vote.
He said apart from the fact that a third term agenda would be a violation of the constitution of the country, the president said age was also against him.
His words: “I said you should read the Constitution because I am not going to make a mistake.
“Besides the age, I am not going to contest for third term because I will go by the Constitution.
“The Constitution says two-terms. I’m going to be frank here because I won’t be needing anybody’s vote.”
