Five years old boy burnt to death as police rescue two persons in a car

A five years old boy, Praise Emeka, was burnt to death in an fire incident which occurred on Friday in Lagos.

The affected residence is located at 4 Ben Okonkwo, Igando, Lagos.

According to the spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, in a statement released on Sunday, the boy was burnt beyond recognition.

The combined efforts of the Police and fire service, who led to the rescue of other occupants of the building and prevented the fire from escalating.

Investigation is said to be ongoing to ascertain the cause of the incident.

The value of the property destroyed by the inferno is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the police have saved two persons from gas poisoning.

A patrol team from Bariga Division, while on patrol along Shobande Street, Akoka, noticed a black Hyundai vehicle parked along the road with two occupants.

The occupants are identified as Abiodun Balogun who is about 32 years old and 21 years old Odisha Ginika.

They were said to be lying down down unconscious on driver and passenger seats respectively.

They were rushed to hospital for medical attention while the vehicle was removed from the scene for inspection, by the police on patrol.

They were resuscitated by the medical team on duty and later discharged from the hospital.

Preliminary investigation was said to have revealed that the man was an Uber driver while the lady was his passenger.

They became unconscious as a result of a poisonous chemical substance/gas they inhaled due to leakage from the air conditioning system.
