A 25 years old man, Kehinde Musa, has committed suicide over a break in relationship with his girlfriend, 21 years old Rasheedat Damilola Animashaun.
This was made known on Thursday by the spokesman of the Lagos Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana.
He explained that Musa, resident at 56 Modele Street, Surulere, Lagos, locked himself in his room and drank poisonous substance known as Sniper.
He said Musa was rushed to hospital but died on arrival.
According to the police spokesman, preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased 25 years old man earlier sent a suicide text message to his ex girlfriend, Rasheedat Damilola Animashaun, informing her that he would take his life since she decided to quit the relationship.
The said girlfriend was said to have promptly informed his family about the text message he sent to her and they rushed to his house, broke the door and found him unconscious.
He was rushed to the hospital but was unable to make it.
His corpse, he said, had been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
