Ogun: Buruji Kashamu’s faction of PDP joins APC

About 1000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, belonging to Buruji Kashamu ‘s group from Ogun East Senatorial District, Ogun State, have defected to the All Progressives Congress.

They defected on Friday and were received by the Senior Special Adviser on Political Matters to the governor, Tunji Egbetokun, in Abeokuta.

The defection, the Buruji Kashamu ‘s group said, was to show solidarity with Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

According to the leader of the defectors, Chief Kolawole Akinyemi, they were impressed by the landmark achievements of the governor since he resumed office.

He said the governor had shown sincerity of purpose.

Speaking while receiving them, Egbetokun expressed happiness, saying that the party welcome them.

He said the party would be fair to all.

His words: “Our party is open to all, even members of other parties. You have come at the right time. In our party, we do not discriminate; rather, we give due recognition to all members, irrespective of how long they have been members or their social standing.”

He called on them to be loyal to the party and not tarnish its name.

He said they should enjoin others to join the APC, stressing that the party was home for all.

Egbetokun assured that the government would embark on policies that would have positive effect on the lives of the people of the state.

The Consultant to the Governor on Political Matters, Biyi Adeleye, also spoke at the occasion.

He said they would not be discriminated against.
