All Federal Government agencies have been directed to give assistance to victims of flood in affected states.

The directive was given by President Muhammadu Buhari, warning that agencies that do not comply should be reported to him.

It would be recalled that the problem of flooding has rendered many homeless in no fewer than four states while some others states are still being watched.

Announcing the Buhari’s order, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said the directive was conveyed through the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Engr. Mustapha Maihaja.

According to him, Maihaja was given the authority to declare a National Disaster in response to the increasing threats of destruction by floods.

He was said to have been mandated to coordinate a national response to emergency situations and in doing so, empowered to direct any or all agencies of government to use their authority and resources to offer assistance to victims affected by the floods.

Shehu said the president expressed his sympathies to all families who lost property and their loved ones as a result of the problem of flood.
