Abdullahi Babalele, son-in-law to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has been granted bail to the tune of N20 million by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
He was arraigned on Wednesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged involvement in money laundering of over $140,000 during the last general elections.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo presided over the court.
Babalele pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, but was ordered detained in EFCC custody pending the bail application on Thursday.
As part of the bail conditions granted, he was to provide one surety in like sum.
The surety, it was stated, must be resident in Lagos and must produce evidence of means through an affidavit.
Babalele was also ordered to deposit his passport with the court.
