Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised three terrorists and recovered arms, a motorcycle and cattle in Kaduna and Kano states.
The Acting Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma, Capt. Tamuno Sinivie, disclosed this in a statement made available in Kaduna on Friday.
Sinivie said the operations were conducted on October 29 and October 30, in the two states.
He said on October 29, troops of Sector 1, while conducting a fighting patrol along Shadow-Old Kuyello Road in Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State, came under attack from armed terrorists.
According to him, the troops swiftly responded with superior firepower, successfully repelling the attack.
“Subsequent pursuit and exploitation of the area led to the neutralisation of three terrorists and recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, three rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle.
“No casualties were recorded among the troops during the encounter,” he said.
Sinivie said in another development on October 30, troops of Sector 1, while on routine patrol, recovered 28 cows and 13 sheep from suspected cattle rustlers in Shanono town, Shanono local government area of Kano State.
He said on sighting the advancing patrol, the suspected criminals abandoned the animals and fled.
The acting media information officer added that efforts were ongoing to hand over the recovered livestock to the appropriate authority.
Sinivie said the Joint Task Force remained resolute in sustaining operational momentum against terrorists and other criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information to security agencies to facilitate the restoration of lasting peace and security in the North-West.
