As preparations intensify for the 2026 edition of the annual ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue, key industry institutions, including the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, and Nigeria LNG Limited, NLNG, have declared their institutional support for the forthcoming high-level multi-stakeholder gathering.

Organized by ITREALMS Media Group, the 2026 ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at the Welcome Centre Hotels, International Airport Road, Ikeja, Lagos.

This year’s edition is themed: “The ‘Fast Tech’ Threat: Strengthening EPR and Recovery Systems for Nigeria’s Small Gadget Surge.”

The 2026 dialogue focuses on the mounting challenges posed by short-lived, low-quality “Fast Tech” consumer devices, such as substandard power banks, uncertified chargers, cables, and small wireless peripherals, which rapidly become hazardous electronic waste.

The forum will address consumer financial exploitation through built-in obsolescence, environmental hazards, and the critical need to enforce Extended Producer Responsibility, EPR, frameworks across Nigeria.

Highlighting the importance of cross-sector collaboration, the Convener of the ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue and Group Executive Editor of ITREALMS Media, Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, emphasized that backing from premier regulatory and corporate bodies like the NCC and NLNG reinforces the urgency of addressing electronic waste within Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

“We are immensely encouraged by the continued commitment of the Nigerian Communications Commission and Nigeria LNG Limited toward sustainable digital infrastructure,” Nweke stated.

He added: “The rapid expansion of telecommunication services and digital technologies must be matched by equal dedication to post-consumer hardware lifecycle management, circular economy practices, and environmental safety.”

Nweke stated further that the 2026 Dialogue would convene regulatory bodies, telecom operators, hardware manufacturers, environmental experts, and circular economy advocates to map out definitive policy recommendations and public-private recovery channels tailored to Nigeria’s electronic device surge.

Alongside high-level keynote presentations and panel sessions, the event will feature dedicated technical sessions and collaborative schemes with certified recycling organizations to promote public e-waste drop-offs and safe recycling practices.

The dialogue is slated to commence at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 26, 2026, at the Welcome Centre Hotels, Lagos.

The ITREALMS E-Waste Dialogue is an annual advocacy platform convened by ITREALMS Media Group.

It brings together government regulators, telecom operators, corporate leaders, environmental agencies, and civil society to examine electronic waste challenges, drive Extended Producer Responsibility, EPR, policy compliance, and foster a sustainable circular economy for electronic equipment in Nigeria.
