How we dislodged bank robbery gang, arrested leader –Police

A bank robbery gang was dislodged on Friday with its leader arrested by the police in Lagos.

About N250,000 earlier collected from a woman was recovered along with arms.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana, disclosed that on Friday, the Ejigbo Police Station received a distress call that some armed robbers on motorcycle were operating outside Access Bank along Egbe Road by NNPC Junction Ejigbo.

He explained:  “Patrol teams deployed from Ejigbo Police Station to reinforce the Mobile Policemen on guard duty at the bank engaged the armed robbers in a gun battle.

“The armed robbers were overpowered and chased up to Egbe where their ring leader was arrested with bullet wounds while others escaped.

“One Brownie pistol with one live ammunition was recovered from the suspect.

“The sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira earlier robbed from a female victim was recovered and handed over to her.

“SARS have taken over the investigation.  Efforts are on to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.”
