Dotun Oladipo: MAPOLY mourns death of alumnus

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, has commiserated with the family, friends and colleagues of the publisher of The Eagle Online, Mr. Dotun Oladipo, over his demise.

The condolence message is contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Rector of the institution, Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso.

Oladipo, an alumnus of the institution when it was known as Ogun State State Polytechnic died on August 25, 2026 short after he fell ill in his office.

The statement reads in part:

“It is with a deeply saddened heart that I extend, on behalf of the Management, Staff and Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, our heartfelt condolences to the family, Colleagues, and loved ones of Dotun Oladipo on his passing.

“The heartfelt recollection of his classmates from his days at the then Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, paint picture of a man whose greatest legacy extended far beyond his professional accomplishments. He was remembered as a kind-hearted friend, generous colleague, mobiliser, bridge-builder and a above all a who was always willing to help others.

“What is particularly touching is the recollection of how, even as a student, Dotun readily offered support to a classmate in need, this act of generosity demonstrated at such an early stage of his life reflected a quality that was evidently deeply  woven into the fabric of his character. He was a man who believed in people and was ever ready to lend a helping hand.

“As an alumnus of this great Institution, Dotun carried its values with distinction and became a worthy ambassador of his alma mata. His contributions to the Institution particularly through his department, journalism and wider engagement with society remain a source of pride and a reflection of the impact he made during his lifetime.

“Though his departure is painful and his absence would be profoundly felt, the memories of his kindness, friendship, generosity and the bridges he built will continue to speak for him. His footprints on the lives of those he encountered will remain indelible.

“May Almighty God grant him eternal rest and give his family, colleagues, friends and all who mourn him the strength, comfort and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“Rest peacefully, Dotun. Your footprints remain.”
