Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
His resignation came barely a day after the governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah, defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Diri made the announcement of his resignation on Wednesday at the State Executive Council Meeting held at the Bayelsa State Government House.
He, however, did not state his next political party.
In a confirmation of the development, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Daniel Alabrah, on his Facebook page announced:
“BREAKING… Gov. Douye Diri resigns from PDP alongside 19 members of the House of Assembly.”
