Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ovie Omo-Agege, has emerged the Deputy Senate President.
He defeated the immediate past occupier of the post, Senator Ike Ekweremadu with 68 votes.
Ekweremadu recorded 37 votes.
Omo-Agege was endorsed by his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ekweremadu came into the contest in a surprise way, having not shown interest in it since the campaign for the post started.
He was nominated for the post by Senator-elect Chukwuka Utazi.
His nomination was made after that of Omo-Agege.
