In a surprise move, Senator-Elect Ike Ekweremadu, joined the contest for the post of the Deputy Senate President.
The immediate past Deputy Senate President was nominated for the post by Senator-elect Chukwuka Utazi.
Ekweremadu accepted the nomination.
His nomination was made after that of the All Progressives Congress, APC, endorsed candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege.
Ekweremadu was not known to have shown interest in the race until he was nominated.
The process of electing the Deputy Senate President is ongoing as at the time of filing this report.
