The All Progressives Congress, APC, has endorsed Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for the post of Deputy Senate President of the 9th National Assembly.
In the same vein, it has given its backing to Hon. Muhammed Idris Wase as the candidate for the post of Deputy Speaker.
The decision was taken by the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party at the emergency meetings held on Saturday and Sunday.
According to a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the decision to endorse Omo-Agege and Wase was taken after due consultations with stakeholders including President Muhammadu Buhari and the governors.
The party therefore called on all members of the party to give full backing to the candidature of those it had adopted.
It also called on members who had indicated interests in the positions to toe the party’s line and support those approved.
Senator Ahmed Lawan and Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila had earlier been endorsed by the party as candidates for the post of Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively.
