A former chairman of Civil Liberties Organisation, CLO, Northwest Zone, Comrade Salihu Othman Isah, has described Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as one of the greatest fighters for the realisation of the nation’s restoration of civilian rule.

Tinubu is the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Reacting to his emergence as the flag bearer at the party’s primary held in Abuja during the week, Isah said Tinubu had the pedigree that could rescue Nigeria and put him in the leadership class where Lee Kuan Yew, Mahathir Mohammed and Paul Kagame of Rwanda had distinguished themselves.

Said he: “For me, this is very symbolic because Tinubu committed his all at the risk of his life, his resources and family safety while in the trenches. This was at a time it was practically dangerous to challenge the military junta at that time to demand the restoration of the outcome of June 12, 1993 presidential polls. This time around, he has surmounted the daunting task to clinch the presidential ticket of the ruling party and that is a commendable milestone on it’s own.

“As one of the heroes of our democratic evolution, he was at the centre stage, endangering his life and comfort, not only of himself but that of his dear family to ensure Nigeria returns to the path of civil governance. And with victory secured from the army, he contested and won the Senate seat in 1992. So he has been at the centre stage. With full restoration of democracy, he contested

to be the governor of Lagos state and won. Therefore, having gone this far, Nigerians need to honour him with their votes in the February presidential elections.”

Isah advised Nigerians to also ensure they delivered overwhelmingly the National Assembly to APC that will key into his policies and programmes to produce the desired results reminiscent to his era as Lagos State governor where he had a supportive legislative arm that helped to engender good governance in the state.

With a Tinubu presidency, he said, Nigerians should expect that he would propel the nation to greatness and make it the envy of all.

He said Tinubu would reshape the security architecture to ensure safety of lives and properties of Nigerians.

“He will build institutions and ensure adherence to the rule of law as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu leadership will give hope to the hopeless and breathe into the economy and which will ultimately ensure that Nigeria will enjoy the dividends of their hard fought democracy.”
