The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has dissociated himself from the ongoing campaign for his presidential candidacy ahead of 2023 election.
A group which identifies itself as Asiwaju Reloaded Ambassadors Nigeria has embarked on a campaign for Tinubu.
Extolling his virtues and political sagacity, the group said Tinubu would make a good presidential material.
The group has displayed pictures of face caps and t-shirts promoting Tinubu ahead of the election.
But reacting to the campaign, Tinubu distanced himself from the group.
In a press statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Tunde Rahman, Tinubu said he had nothing to do with the campaign of the group.
His words: “We have seen pictures of face caps, T shirts, shirts and even leaflets with Bola Tinubu 2023 embossed on them purportedly by a faceless group which christened itself ‘Asiwaju Reloaded Ambassadors’ Nigeria’. Neither the group nor its souvenirs are known to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.”
He added: “We hereby, through this medium, categorically deny any knowledge of the group and dissociate Asiwaju Tinubu from the group’s unsolicited and unwarranted materials.”
It would be recalled that there are insinuations that the presidential slot of the country would go to the South-West in 2023.
Many who believe in the political wisdom of Tinubu have since been describing him as a possible choice.
