2023 presidency: APC fixes forms for N100m, opts for indirect primary

The cost of expression of interest and nomination forms for the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is N100 million.

Also, indirect primaries will be adopted to choose the party’s candidates.

The decisions among others were announced on Wednesday by the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party after its emergency meeting.

The meeting was held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

The spokesman of the party, Felix Morka, who spoke on the decisions shortly after the meeting gave a breakdown of the N100 million cost of forms.

He said while the expression of interest form was put at N30 million, the nomination form was put at N70 million.

The sale of the forms will begin on Saturday, April 23 while the primary for the presidential ticket will hold from May 30 to June 1.

Top politicians who have declared presidential interest on the platform of the party are APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige; Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, among others have also shown interest in the presidential race.

The cost for the nomination forms for other posts are: State House of Assembly – N2 million; House of Representatives – N10 million; Senate – N20 million and Governorship – N50 million.

It was also decided that women and persons living with disabilities would enjoy free tickets while candidates not up to 40 years would enjoy 50 per cent discount for the forms.
